WESLACO – Texas Department of Public Safety - South Texas Region (DPS), during a traffic stop, seized more than 133 pounds of cocaine after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Hidalgo County #RGV.
On February 16, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a gray Nissan Frontier on 10th Street south of Beal Street in McAllen for a traffic violation. During a vehicle search, the trooper discovered 48 plastic-wrapped bundles containing cocaine concealed inside the vehicle.
The driver, Williams Garcia-Granados, 44, and passenger, Williams Garcia-Redondo, 17, of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, were placed under arrest and charged with manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony. Both were transported and booked at the Hidalgo County Jail.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $1.2 million.
