Following the regular 87th Legislative Session, which was favorable to the Department of Public Safety and its Troops, the Governor called two back-to-back Special Sessions that dealt with Abbott’s priority items such as: election integrity, bail bond reform, and border security to name a few. House Bill 9, the border security bill, was sent to the Governor for his signature Wednesday and allocates $1.88 billion toward border security, including $154.8 million to the Texas Department of Public Safety. If interested, you can find a copy of the bill HERE.

TSTA would like to acknowledge Director Steven McCraw of the Texas Department of Public Safety and his team for the countless hours they have dedicated to responding to the call of duty in service to the state of Texas. Their level of commitment and professionalism while working with the Legislature has been invaluable.
