The Texas State Troopers Association is a voluntary labor organization of non-supervisory commissioned officers and retirees of the Texas Department of Public Safety. (TSTA is not a part of the DPS or of the state government of Texas. Please click the preceding link to visit the DPS web site.) The Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized under section 501(c)(5) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to TSTA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions but may be deductible as business expenses or for other purposes.
The Association provides a number of benefits to its members, which include the use of TSTA's fitness and recreational facilities in Austin, Texas, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, legal counsel and representation in matters related to the good faith performance of their duties as law enforcement officers, free preparation of a Last Will and Testament, advocacy before the Texas Legislature, and financial assistance to Troopers and their families in times of crisis and extraordinary need. Upon joining TSTA new members also receive a TSTA windbreaker, baseball cap and tie tack.
